Great achievement by Lawrencians

CONGRATULATIONS TIRTHA PRATIM DAS

A very special shoutout to our St Lawrence High School, Kolkata, classmate Tirtha Pratim Das, Director of ISRO’s Space Science Programme, who has played a key role in the successful Chandrayaan 3 moon mission. Apart from this, Tirtha is also an accomplished musician (he plays the tabla) and a published author in both Bengali and English.
Dr. Das started his career in ISRO as a launch vehicle technologist at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO, and contributed to the PSLV and GSLV missions. Subsequently, he played significant roles in the Planetary Exploration programme of ISRO and contributed to the scientific exploration of Moon and Mars in Chandrayaan-1, 2 and Mars Orbiter Missions. In the pursuit of disruptive technologies in ISRO, Dr. Das has also been instrumental in the development of disruptive and futuristic space technologies for the new decades. Dr. Das is an alumnus of the Department of Physics, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, and Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics, University of Calcutta. He earned his Ph.D. on the lunar exosphere from Cochin University of Science and Technology while working as a scientist in the Space Physics Laboratory, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO.

CONGRATULATIONS DR. AMITABHA CHANDA

Dr Amitabha Chanda have been awarded “The Best Neurosurgeon of West Bengal” at The Heath Care Excellence Award in New Delhi on 19.01.2023.
The award was given by Shri Arjunlal Meena (M. P. and Chairman of Standing Committee of Health and Welfare of Government of India), Shri Rajendra Agarwal, Member of Parliament and the noted film actress Bhagyashree Dasani Patwardhan. I thank The Almighty for this award. The award was supposed to be given by Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Health Minister. However, he had an Emergency and instead Shri Arjunlal Meena came in his place.

CONGRATULATIONS PROF. ASHOK JHUNJHUNWALA

Prof. Jhunjhunwala is a Lawrencian of 1970 batch. He is a very impressive speaker and he is on the PM’s and scientific advisory council of India.
